Short AI Alternative: ShortFast vs Short AI

Short AI (short.ai) and ShortFast (shortfast.com) are different products from different companies. Short AI makes Reddit-story, fake-text, dialogue and AI-story videos from templates, cuts long videos into clips and schedules posts to eight platforms; ShortFast writes, renders and posts faceless shorts from a topic, on a schedule.

Short version

ShortFast is our product, made by SachaSoft LLC; Short AI is a different product from a different company, and it does two jobs: it makes faceless videos from ready-made formats such as Reddit stories, fake-text chats, cartoon dialogues and AI stories, and its AI clip maker cuts long videos into short clips. Pick Short AI if you want those formats, clips from long videos you already have, or one scheduler for eight social platforms; pick ShortFast if you want faceless shorts written from a topic in one of 27 styles and posted to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts on a schedule, with each next episode written for you.

Like for like, the two faceless generators overlap: both start from a topic or your own script and add a voice and captions. Short AI builds each video on a template, such as comment frames over gameplay or a chat layout, and its story, dialogue, Reddit and fake-text formats cost 20 credits per 30 seconds of video; ShortFast renders it in a style, from licensed documentary stock footage to stick figures or AI video, and its automations write and post a new episode for every posting slot. Clipping is a different job: ShortFast starts from a topic and doesn't clip videos you upload, so if that's your main need, Short AI or a dedicated clipper such as OpusClip fits better.

ShortFast's plans are $29, $39 and $99 a month, and every monthly plan starts with a 3-day trial for $1; there's no free plan. On October 24, 2026, Short AI's Creation plans, which hold the credits for videos, captions and clips, were $19, $30 and $60 a month, and its pricing page listed a free plan for scheduling posts to 3 channels. If you were looking for Short AI itself, it's at short.ai.

What Short AI does best

Short AI is built around ready-made formats. Its faceless-video page lists Reddit stories with customizable comment frames over gameplay such as 1080p Minecraft scenes; fake-text chats in iPhone, WhatsApp or Instagram layouts, with your own messages, contact names and pictures; cartoon dialogues with animated characters; and AI stories over background styles from watercolor and manga to oil painting. Its Reddit-story page says videos download without a watermark.

It also does a job ShortFast doesn't: clipping. Its AI clip maker takes a long video you upload or link, such as a podcast, webinar or livestream of up to 3 hours, picks highlights with a virality score and turns them into clips of 15 seconds to 5 minutes, framed for social platforms, captioned and with B-roll. Its scheduler covers eight platforms and posts images, carousels and Stories as well as videos. Its TikTok scheduler page says posts publish directly through TikTok's official API, and it describes an analytics dashboard for views, comments, shares and engagement rates.

When ShortFast fits better

ShortFast fits when you want a series that runs itself. From a topic, it writes the script and hook and renders a faceless video in one of 27 styles, with a voiceover and burned-in captions: licensed documentary stock footage, AI video, or AI images in a fixed art style such as stick figures, comic book, whiteboard or claymation. It also makes UGC-style videos with AI actors for ads.

Each automation follows a series brief of up to 500 characters and writes the next episode for every posting slot: a new topic, script, title, description and footage, in the same tone, format and length, with recent titles checked. It posts the video to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts on the schedule you set, or emails it to you, with no approval step.

Automated channels live under the platforms' rules, whichever tool you use. YouTube's monetization policies, under “Generic or Repetitive Content”, say channels where content “feels interchangeable from video to video” aren't allowed to monetize, and its spam policy covers “using automated tools or AI to churn out high volumes of similar content with minimal changes”. TikTok requires a label on realistic AI-generated content. Vary your topics, and check the first videos of any automated series.

What each costs

A ShortFast one-minute stock-footage video uses about 24 credits and an AI art-style one about 37, so Starter's 2,000 credits, at $29 a month or $15 billed yearly, cover about 80 or 50 videos a month. Extra credits are $10 per 1,000. There's no free plan; every monthly plan starts with a 3-day trial for $1.

Short AI's Creation plans hold 1,600, 3,600 or 7,200 credits a month, which its pricing page puts at up to 40, 90 or 180 faceless videos. Its story, dialogue, Reddit and fake-text formats cost 20 credits per 30 seconds of video, so a one-minute Reddit story uses 40 credits; scheduling is priced separately. The two companies' credits don't convert, so price a video you'd actually publish on each.
