Turn a topic or script into a finished vertical video, with real stock footage, voiceover and captions, without ever appearing on camera.
Faceless channels are the most accessible way into short-form video, because the thing stopping most people isn't ideas, it's not wanting to be on camera. Enter a topic or paste a script above and this builds a vertical video around it: footage matched to what's being said, a generated voiceover, and burned-in captions.
The footage matters more than people expect. Videos built on real licensed stock clips look like content a person made and pass platform quality review, where fully AI-generated visuals frequently look synthetic and can attract monetisation problems. You can mix in AI b-roll where a shot genuinely calls for it.
A topic is enough. If you already have a script, paste it and it'll be used as written.
Real stock footage, AI-generated images, or a mix. Stock tends to perform better for monetised channels.

A faceless channel is any channel where the creator doesn't appear on screen. The visuals come from stock footage, screen recordings, animation or generated imagery, and the narration carries the content. Finance explainers, history channels, motivation, scary stories, product round-ups and AI news are all dominated by the format.
The appeal is obvious: no camera, no lighting, no on-camera confidence required, and the videos can be produced by anyone rather than depending on a specific person being available. The trade-off is that you have no personality advantage, so the writing has to be genuinely good. There's nothing else holding the viewer.
It also means the channel is an asset rather than a job. A faceless channel can be handed to someone else, run by a team, or operated at volume in a way that a personality-driven channel structurally cannot.
Fully synthetic video has an uncanny quality that most viewers detect even when they can't articulate it, and short-form audiences are unusually good at spotting it. Videos that read as AI-generated get lower engagement, attract dismissive comments, and in some cases run into platform quality policies.
Monetisation is the sharper concern. YouTube's policies around inauthentic and mass-produced content are aimed squarely at low-effort synthetic uploads, and channels built entirely on generated visuals with no editorial input are exactly the pattern under scrutiny. Real licensed stock footage with an original script and original narration doesn't trip those signals in the same way.
That doesn't make AI b-roll useless. For an abstract concept where no stock clip exists, a generated image is often the better shot. The distinction that matters is whether AI is filling gaps in a real production or whether it is the entire production.
Not all faceless niches are worth the same. Advertiser demand varies enormously, so a finance or business channel can earn several times the RPM of an entertainment channel at identical view counts. Finance, investing, software and B2B topics sit at the top; general entertainment and meme content sits at the bottom.
Against that, high-CPM niches are harder to grow, because the audience is narrower and the competition is better funded. A realistic approach is to weigh how much you can actually produce about a topic against what it earns, rather than chasing the highest RPM you can find and running out of ideas in three weeks.
The strongest predictor of success is boring: whether you can post daily for six months. A mediocre niche posted consistently outperforms an ideal niche posted twice, which is the main argument for automating the production rather than relying on motivation.
YouTube's Shorts route into the Partner Programme requires 1,000 subscribers plus 10 million Shorts views over 90 days. That sounds enormous and is genuinely achievable with daily posting in a niche with reach, though it typically takes several months rather than several weeks. The alternative long-form route needs 4,000 watch hours, which is harder for a Shorts-first channel.
TikTok's monetisation thresholds are lower, and its Creator Rewards programme favours longer videos over very short ones, which is worth knowing if TikTok is your primary platform.
The honest framing: this is a volume business with a slow start and a long tail. Most channels that work look like nothing is happening for two or three months and then compound. The ones that fail almost always stopped posting during that flat period.
Producing one faceless video by hand takes 45 minutes to a couple of hours: writing, sourcing footage, recording or generating narration, editing, captioning, uploading. Daily posting at that rate is a part-time job, and the great majority of people who start faceless channels stop for exactly this reason.
That's the case for automating the pipeline rather than the strategy. You still choose the niche, the angle and the voice. What gets automated is the mechanical work between having an idea and the video being live.
