These two are closer substitutes than most pairs on this site. Both start from a niche or topic, write the script, generate a voiceover and captions, render a vertical video and post it on a recurring schedule. You can run a hands-off faceless channel with either one.
Shortspilot is the better pick if you want a slightly lower entry price ($18 a month, or $14 billed yearly), if your channel is built on Reddit stories or fake-chat videos, or if you want a timeline editor to adjust captions and transitions before a video goes out. It posts to YouTube Shorts automatically and to TikTok after you confirm each upload by email.
ShortFast is the better pick if you need Instagram Reels, if you run more than three accounts, if you want stock footage, a fixed illustrated style such as stick figures or claymation, or UGC-style video with AI presenters, or if you want to drive the whole pipeline from an API or an MCP server. Neither tool has a free plan, so the practical way to decide is to try the one that matches your format.

Shortspilot's video counts are worked out from the posting schedule in its FAQ; it does not publish credits per video. ShortFast's are typical, not limits (about 12 credits per stock-footage video, 25 per AI art-style video).

Shortspilot sells three tiers, each defined by how many video series you can run and how many credits you get a month. Its product now lives at shortspilot.ai (shortspilot.com is a separate newsletter page). Billed monthly, Pilot is $18 for one series and 1,500 credits, Autopilot $38 for two series and 3,200 credits, and Astronaut $68 for three series and 6,300 credits; billed yearly they are $14, $29 and $55 a month, which it labels as saving up to 24%.
How many credits one video uses is not published, so the more useful number is the cadence each tier allows. Based on the fixed posting times in its FAQ (Pilot posts Monday, Wednesday and Friday), that is roughly 13 videos a month on Pilot, about 30 on Autopilot and about 60 on Astronaut. Their FAQ also says they do not offer refunds on subscriptions, although the terms keep the EU 14-day withdrawal right unless you waive it. Shortspilot is operated by Chatbyte GmbH in Hamburg, which some EU customers will care about.
ShortFast prices by credits. Starter is $19 a month for 1,000 credits, one automation and one social account. Pro is $39 for 5,000 credits, three automations, up to three posts a day per automation and three social accounts. Advanced is $99 for 10,000 credits, six automations, six social accounts and long videos up to 15 minutes. Yearly billing takes 20% off. A typical stock-footage video uses about 12 credits and an AI art-style one about 25, so Starter covers about 40 to 80 videos a month; a fully animated video uses about 464. On entry price, Shortspilot is cheaper. On videos and accounts per dollar at the next tier up, ShortFast comes out ahead. Which matters depends on how many channels you run.
Shortspilot's formats are the reason to choose it. Reddit Stories and Fake Chat videos, in WhatsApp, iMessage and eBay Kleinanzeigen styles, with either an AI voiceover or an AI song, are formats ShortFast does not make. Its AI video comes as moving clips in cinematic, anime and realistic styles, and it can turn an image into video. If that is the look your channel is built on, ShortFast is the wrong tool.
ShortFast's visuals come from licensed stock footage or one of 27 fixed styles, such as stick figures, whiteboard, anime or claymation, and it makes UGC-style videos with a lip-synced AI presenter. The pipeline writes a script and a hook, adds an AI voiceover and burned-in captions, and writes a new episode on the automation's theme for every slot. A/B hook variations are coming soon. It publishes to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts through the official APIs. Shortspilot does not post to Instagram at all.
The other difference is what automatic means. On Shortspilot, YouTube posts go out on their own, but for TikTok you receive an email and confirm each upload, which their FAQ attributes to TikTok's terms. ShortFast publishes to all three platforms on a schedule you set in your own time zone, with a separate queue for each connected account.
Both are generation-first tools for people with nothing to clip. Pick a niche, get a script, a voice, captions and a rendered vertical video, and let it post. For a single faceless YouTube Shorts channel, the two products do the same job, and the choice comes down to format and price.
Neither does voice cloning. Shortspilot has no presenters; ShortFast's UGC-style videos use a lip-synced AI presenter. Neither has a free plan for the app. Shortspilot advertises a first render with no credit card required, though no trial length or free-credit amount is published. ShortFast charges $1 for a three-day trial with full access on monthly plans.
The gap opens at scale and at the edges. Shortspilot caps you at three series with one social account each. ShortFast is built for the case where you run several accounts, want Instagram Reels included, and may want to trigger videos and publishing from your own code through a REST API, webhooks or an MCP server. Shortspilot publishes no API.
