ShortFast vs Syllaby

Syllaby is a broad video studio with faceless video, AI avatars, voice cloning and a bulk scheduler where you preview each video before it goes out, while ShortFast is a narrower pipeline that generates and publishes faceless and UGC-style shorts on a recurring schedule you set once.

Short version

Syllaby is the broader product. It makes faceless videos and avatar videos, clones your voice from a 30-second sample, handles long-form, lets you choose among several AI video models, and schedules to seven platforms from a content calendar. ShortFast does one narrower thing: generate faceless or UGC-style shorts and publish them on a recurring schedule to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

Syllaby is the better pick if you want your own face and voice in the videos, if you make long-form as well as shorts, if you want to pick specific AI models and art styles, or if you post to Facebook, LinkedIn, X or Threads. Its $9 Starter plan is also the cheapest way to try a tool like this, at about seven faceless videos a month.

ShortFast is the better pick if you want a channel that runs itself. Syllaby's documented workflow is generate, preview, adjust, schedule, one video at a time, with no recurring generate-and-post automation. ShortFast is built around exactly that automation, with per-account queues, timezone-aware scheduling, a REST API, webhooks and an MCP server. If you would rather review every video before it posts, that difference counts against ShortFast, not for it.

Pick ShortFast if
  • You want videos generated and posted on a recurring schedule without reviewing each one
  • You run several accounts and want a separate queue and schedule for each
  • You want a flat number of videos a month rather than credits billed per minute
  • You want UGC-style video with AI actors for ads and product content, without recording yourself
  • You want to trigger generation and publishing from a REST API, webhooks or an MCP server
Pick Syllaby if
  • You want an avatar or digital twin of yourself, or a cloned voice
  • You make long-form videos as well as shorts
  • You want to choose among AI video models and named art styles per project
  • You post to Facebook, LinkedIn, X or Threads as well as YouTube, TikTok and Instagram
  • You want to start at $9 a month, or make a first video free with 50 credits

How the two pricing models work

Syllaby is credit-based, and the credits are spent per minute of video. A faceless video costs 13 credits a minute, an avatar video 50 credits a minute plus 6 a minute to export, and Veo 3 generation is charged per second, at 4 credits for Fast and 11 for Quality. Charges round up to whole minutes. Trending-idea research costs 15 credits each and scripts cost 1 credit a minute.

The plans are Starter at $9 a month, monthly billing only, with 100 credits, or about seven faceless videos, and 1 GB of storage. Basic is $29 a month, or $24.67 a month billed annually, for 500 credits, about 38 videos, and one voice clone. Standard is $78 a month for 1,500 credits, about 115 videos, and three clones. Premium is $153 a month for 5,000 credits, about 384 videos, and five clones. Extra credits can be added any time. On refunds, the pricing FAQ and the refund policy disagree, so go by the stricter one: within the first 7 days of purchase, and only if no credits have been used.

ShortFast prices by finished short videos. Starter is $19 a month for 30 videos, one automation and one social account. Pro is $39 for 90 videos, three automations, up to three posts a day per automation and three accounts. Advanced is $99 for 180 videos, six automations, six accounts and long videos up to 15 minutes. Yearly billing takes 20% off. Syllaby is cheaper to start, and cheaper per faceless video at the top end going by their own estimates. ShortFast is simpler to budget, since the plan states a video count and an account count up front.

The workflow difference: a studio with a scheduler versus a pipeline

Syllaby's documented flow has four steps: generate an idea, write or edit the script, generate the video with the AI model you choose, then schedule and publish. You preview the result, adjust the script if needed, and put it on the calendar. The bulk scheduler lets you queue many videos at once, but nothing on the site describes a series that generates and posts new videos on its own after you set it up once.

ShortFast is that series. You set up an automation once, and from then on it writes the script and hook, renders the video from stock footage, AI b-roll or AI actors, adds the voiceover and burned-in captions, and publishes to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts through the official APIs. Each connected account has its own queue and a schedule in its own time zone. Pro allows up to three posts a day per automation.

Which is better depends on how much you want to touch. If you are producing avatar videos of yourself, or long-form, or picking a different AI model per project, reviewing each result is part of the job and Syllaby's flow fits. If you are running faceless channels where the point is volume and consistency, a review step for every video becomes the bottleneck, and that is the case ShortFast is built for.

Where they overlap

Both make faceless short videos from a topic or script, with an AI voiceover, captions and stock or AI-generated visuals, and both post to YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. If a faceless short posted to those three platforms is all you need, either tool produces it, and the differences are in cost per video, how the posting is triggered, and what else comes in the box.

The boxes differ a lot. Syllaby adds avatars, including Real Clone Studio, which needs a consent video and a green-screen recording of at least five minutes in 4K at 60 fps and is sold separately, plus voice cloning, AI thumbnails, URL-to-video, audio-to-video, social analytics and mobile apps. ShortFast adds UGC-style video with AI actors, variations of the same video for A/B testing, per-account queues, webhooks and an MCP server. Both have a REST API.

Neither is the wrong choice. They are aimed at different people. Syllaby's audience is marketers and creators who want one subscription for many kinds of video and are fine scheduling each one. ShortFast's audience is channel operators, agencies and businesses that want a video a day going out on its own. Syllaby's free first video with 50 credits and ShortFast's $1 three-day trial make it cheap to try both against the same topic.

[ 02 ]FAQ

Common questions

Is ShortFast a Syllaby alternative?
For faceless shorts, yes. Both generate a faceless video from a topic or script with an AI voiceover and captions, and both publish to YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. For avatar videos, voice cloning or long-form, no: ShortFast does not offer them. The bigger difference is that ShortFast posts on a recurring schedule on its own, while Syllaby's flow has you preview and schedule each video.
Which is cheaper?
Syllaby, to start. Its Starter plan is $9 a month, monthly billing only, for about seven faceless videos. ShortFast Starter is $19 a month for 30 videos and one account, or 20% less billed yearly. In the middle, Syllaby Basic is $29 for about 38 videos and ShortFast Pro is $39 for 90 across three accounts. At the top, Syllaby Premium is $153 for about 384 videos, more than any ShortFast plan includes.
Does Syllaby have a free trial?
Its pricing FAQ says no, and suggests starting on the lowest plan and canceling any time. The homepage separately offers a free signup with your first video included and 50 credits, which is about three minutes of faceless video at 13 credits a minute. ShortFast has no free tier; monthly plans start with a three-day trial for $1 with full access.
Can Syllaby run a channel on autopilot?
Not as documented. Syllaby has a scheduler, a content calendar and a bulk scheduler with unlimited scheduling on every plan, so you can queue a lot of videos in one sitting. But the described workflow is preview, adjust, generate and schedule for each video, and no recurring generate-and-post series is mentioned. ShortFast is built around that recurring automation, with per-account queues and timezone-aware schedules.
Does ShortFast do avatars or voice cloning?
No. ShortFast generates a voiceover with AI voices and makes faceless videos from licensed stock footage or AI b-roll, or UGC-style videos with AI actors. It does not clone your voice and does not build an avatar or lip-synced digital twin of you. If you want to appear in your videos without recording each one, Syllaby's avatars and voice clones are the feature you need.
