VidRush makes long-form YouTube videos, documentaries above all, 6 to 60 minutes long and matched to real footage. ShortFast makes faceless short videos from a topic, in one of 27 styles, and posts them to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts on a schedule.
VidRush is for long-form YouTube videos, documentaries above all; ShortFast is for short-form videos that are written, rendered and posted for you. Pick VidRush if you want researched documentary, explainer or Top 10 videos of 6 to 60 minutes built from real footage; pick ShortFast if you want a new faceless short made from a topic and posted to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts on a schedule.
They overlap less than the searches suggest. VidRush's FAQ says it isn't built for “anything vertical like Shorts and Reels”, and ShortFast makes videos of up to 3 minutes on every plan, or 8 to 15 minutes on Advanced, so it is no substitute for a 30-to-60-minute documentary. Some creators run both: VidRush for the long videos, ShortFast for daily shorts on the same subjects that point viewers to the channel.
Starter is $99 a month at VidRush, for 2,000 credits that it counts as up to 45 minutes of video, and $19 at ShortFast, for 1,000 credits, about 80 stock-footage or 40 AI art-style shorts at typical costs; the credits don't convert. Neither lists a free plan, and every ShortFast monthly plan starts with a 3-day trial for $1.
Side by side
| Dimension | ShortFast | VidRush |
|---|---|---|
| Made for | Short-form: faceless videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, made from a topic. | Long-form: documentary, explainer, breakdown and Top 10 videos, made from a brief. |
| Length | Up to 3 minutes on every plan; 8 to 15 minutes on Advanced. | 6 to 60 minutes, in English, per its FAQ, which adds that it isn't built for “anything vertical like Shorts and Reels”. |
| Visuals | 27 styles: licensed documentary stock footage, AI video, or AI images in a fixed art style (stick figures, whiteboard, anime, classical painting, Greek statues…). AI actors for UGC-style video. | Real footage about your subject, from sources you pick: CC and public domain only, commercial stock, or general web crawling. Original music and motion graphics for each video. |
| Script and voice | Writes the script and hook from a topic, or uses your script. Adds a voiceover and burned-in, word-by-word captions (60+ languages, auto-detected). | Researches and scripts from a brief, or takes your script (up to 60 minutes) and your own narration as MP3 or WAV; your own voiceover doesn't lower the credit cost. |
| Before it renders | For a one-off video, write or paste the script before generating. Automations have no approval step: each episode is posted or emailed to you. | Shows the full plan (script, footage choices, voice, style and estimated cost) to approve, adjust or rewrite before it generates. |
| Editing | Edit captions, B-roll, music, title and post text, then re-render; an edited script can't be re-voiced. UGC videos re-render only the scene whose narration you edit. | A timeline editor with drag-and-drop, a media library and text overlays, plus Rush Agent, which takes changes in plain English, such as a shorter intro or different B-roll. |
| Series and posting | Each automation writes a new episode for every posting slot and posts it to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, or emails it to you. 1, 3 or 6 social accounts by plan. | Each video starts from a brief and can be modeled on your channel's pacing and editing rhythm. Its homepage, pricing page and FAQ don't mention posting or scheduling. |
| Trying it | No free plan. Every monthly plan starts with a 3-day trial for $1. | Its pricing page lists no free plan or trial. Plans start at $99 a month. |

| Developer access | REST API, webhooks and an MCP server for Claude, Cursor and other agents. Free API tier: 50 credits every 30 days, 3 watermarked renders, download only. | Its homepage, pricing page and FAQ don't mention an API. |

VidRush makes the long video. Its FAQ describes documentary and Top 10 videos of 6 to 60 minutes, in English, and its homepage adds explainers and breakdowns. Brief it with a paragraph, a script, raw footage or your own voiceover, and it does the rest: research, script, narration and edit, matched to real footage, with original music and motion graphics. It says a publish-ready video takes under an hour. You pick the footage sources, approve the plan and estimated cost before anything renders, and fix the result in a timeline editor or by telling its Rush Agent what to change.
Its FAQ is candid about fit: it is strongest where real footage exists online, in subjects such as history, finance, true crime and science, and its test is whether 20+ minutes of footage on your topic can be found. For a long-form YouTube channel on those subjects, VidRush is the better tool. ShortFast is not a substitute: its videos run up to 3 minutes on every plan, or 8 to 15 minutes on Advanced.
ShortFast fits when the video is a short. VidRush's FAQ says it isn't built for “anything vertical like Shorts and Reels”; ShortFast is. It writes a script and hook from a topic, generates a faceless video in one of 27 styles with a voiceover and burned-in captions, and posts it to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Each automation follows a series brief of up to 500 characters and writes the next episode for every posting slot: a new topic, script, title and footage in the same tone, format and length, with recent titles checked. It posts the episode or emails it to you, with no approval step.
It also suits topics with little footage. Licensed documentary stock footage fits history and finance shorts, and AI art styles such as stick figures, whiteboard, comic book, classical painting or Greek statues need no footage at all. At typical costs, a stock-footage video uses about 12 credits and an art-style video about 25, so a new art-style short every day comes to about 750 credits a month, inside Starter's 1,000.
Some creators use both: VidRush for the long documentaries on the main YouTube channel, and a ShortFast automation posting short videos on the same subjects to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, to bring new viewers to them. Starter's one automation and one social account cover one platform; Pro, at $39 a month, runs three automations across three accounts, one per platform.
Either way, automated channels live under the platforms' rules. YouTube's monetization policies say channels where content “feels interchangeable from video to video” can't monetize, and its spam policy covers “using automated tools or AI to churn out high volumes of similar content with minimal changes”. TikTok requires creators to label AI-generated content that shows realistic-looking scenes or people. Vary your topics, and check the first videos of any automated series.
On October 23, 2026, VidRush's pricing page listed Starter at $99 a month, or $83 billed yearly, for 2,000 credits, which it counts as up to 45 minutes of video, about 8 videos. Creator was $239 ($199 yearly) for 136 minutes and Pro $639 ($533 yearly) for 409 minutes, on its Deep Video v1 Pro model.
ShortFast's Starter is $19 a month, $15 billed yearly, for 1,000 credits: about 80 stock-footage or 40 AI art-style videos at typical costs. Pro is $39 for 5,000 credits, Advanced $99 for 10,000, and extra credits are $10 per 1,000. The credits don't convert: VidRush prices finished minutes of long-form video, ShortFast finished short videos. Price the videos you will actually publish.
