Both turn a topic into faceless videos posted on a schedule, but PassiveShorts prices each series separately, builds every scene from AI images and posts only to TikTok and YouTube, while ShortFast uses licensed stock footage or AI b-roll, adds Instagram Reels and covers several accounts on one plan.
PassiveShorts and ShortFast solve the same problem: you pick a topic, a voice and a schedule, and the tool writes, voices, captions and posts every video. The visual difference is the one that matters. PassiveShorts generates an AI image for every line of the script in one of 19 styles, from photorealistic to Kurzgesagt and claymation. ShortFast builds the video from licensed stock footage or AI b-roll, or from AI actors for UGC-style content.
PassiveShorts is the better pick if you run one or two story, joke or tips channels on TikTok and YouTube, want a flat per-series price with an automatic seven-day refund, want to send videos to TikTok drafts or post them privately for review, or want TikTok photo slideshows alongside videos. It also lets you paste your own script for a single video, which counts against the same allowance.
ShortFast is the better pick if you post to Instagram Reels, which PassiveShorts does not support, if you want real footage rather than generated images, if you need more than 31 videos a month per series, or if you want an API. PassiveShorts is also very new, launched on Product Hunt around August 2026 with no reviews at the time of writing, so expect the product to change.

PassiveShorts prices every series separately. A series is one topic posting to one TikTok and one YouTube channel. Basic is $19 a month per series and posts three times a week, with 12 videos a month. Pro is $39 per series and posts once a day, with 31 videos a month. The features are otherwise identical; only the cadence changes. Yearly billing is ten months for twelve, so $190 or $390 per series a year, and you can run up to ten series.
The math is simple, which is the point. Two daily series cost $78 a month, three cost $117, and the video allowance is pooled across the account. The trade-off is the ceiling: no series can produce more than 31 videos a month, and every additional channel is another full series price. PassiveShorts backs this with a seven-day money-back guarantee that refunds automatically, though the policy excludes accounts that have already published more than a small number of videos.
ShortFast prices by monthly volume with accounts included. Starter is $19 for 30 videos, one automation and one social account. Pro is $39 for 90 videos, three automations posting up to three times a day each, and three accounts. Advanced is $99 for 180 videos, six automations, six accounts and videos up to 15 minutes, with 20% off yearly. Count the accounts and videos you actually want before comparing: per series, PassiveShorts is simpler to reason about; per video, ShortFast includes more at each price.
PassiveShorts generates a matching AI image for every line of the script and lets you pick from 19 visual styles, including photorealistic, cinematic, anime, Kurzgesagt, claymation, low poly 3D and storybook, or leave it on Auto. Captions come in six presets or can be tuned down to fonts, outlines, animations and word highlights. For scary stories, jokes, life pro tips and the other preset topics, that illustrated format is exactly what the genre usually looks like.
ShortFast builds the same video from licensed stock footage or AI b-roll matched to the script, or from AI actors for UGC-style product videos. Real footage reads as filmed, which matters when the topic is a place, a product or a person and viewers expect to see the real thing. It also gives you variations of a video with different hooks for A/B testing, which PassiveShorts does not offer. ShortFast has no named art styles, no slideshows and no avatars, so if those are the appeal, PassiveShorts wins on visuals.
On monetization, be skeptical of anyone who says AI-image channels cannot be monetized. They can, and are. The risk platforms actually police is repetitive, low-effort content, which either tool will produce if you set a generic topic and never look at the output. PassiveShorts' answer is a review step, sending videos to TikTok drafts or posting them privately first, and commenters on its Product Hunt launch asked for exactly that before trusting a fully automatic pipeline. ShortFast's answer is footage that looks less synthetic by default, and variations so you can see what lands.
Both are set-and-forget automations. You pick a topic, a voice and a schedule, and the tool writes, voices, captions and publishes on repeat to TikTok and YouTube. Both let you paste your own script for a single video. Both offer flat, predictable pricing rather than credits, and both start at $19. If you have one story channel on TikTok and YouTube and want it to run without you, either will do that.
PassiveShorts' gaps are structural. It does not post to Instagram at all. Each series reaches one TikTok and one YouTube channel, and no plan produces more than 31 videos a month per series. It does not publish supported languages, output resolution or whether videos carry a watermark. It has no API. And it is new: a Product Hunt launch around August 2026, blog posts from July, no Trustpilot page and no reviews at the time of writing, so the roadmap could go anywhere.
ShortFast's gaps are the things PassiveShorts does well. There are no TikTok photo slideshows, no send-to-drafts review mode, no named art styles and no automatic refund; the $1 three-day trial is the safety net instead. What ShortFast has that PassiveShorts does not: Instagram Reels, stock footage and AI actors, longer videos on Advanced, several accounts per plan with their own queues and timezone-aware schedules, and a REST API, webhooks and an MCP server. If you are an agency or a developer, that last item settles it.
