CapCut is the free editor most TikTok creators already use, with an AI script-to-video tool and a huge effects library, but every video is still yours to finish and post. ShortFast automates the whole loop: script, scenes, voice, captions and daily posting.
Most people searching for a CapCut alternative want another editor, and if that is you, ShortFast is not it. CapCut is a full manual editor on desktop, phone and web, free for most of what creators need, with templates, effects, transitions and a free AI script-to-video maker that writes a script and assembles stock footage with a voiceover. You still review, edit, export and post each video.
ShortFast is for the other reason people leave CapCut: they do not want to edit at all. It writes the script from a topic, builds each scene in one of 27 styles (documentary stock footage, AI video, or AI images such as stick figures, anime or claymation), adds a voice and captions, and publishes to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts on a schedule, every day if you want.
So the choice is control or automation. CapCut costs nothing to start and gives you every frame; ShortFast costs from $19 a month and gives you a channel that posts itself. Plenty of creators keep CapCut for the videos they film and use ShortFast for a faceless channel next to it.

CapCut's free script-to-video maker is a good start: describe a topic in Narration or Commercial mode, pick one of the scripts it writes, and it assembles stock footage with a voiceover into a draft. From there you are in a full editor, with captions, effects, transitions, music and templates, which is why it is the default tool for so many TikTok creators.
It stops at the draft. Each video still needs your review, your edit and your export, and posting happens elsewhere: CapCut itself does not schedule, and its sibling product Pippit schedules individual posts to TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, but not YouTube. For one video a week that is fine. For a video a day on three platforms, the editing and posting is the job.
ShortFast's automations cover the full loop. You set a theme, a style and a schedule once. Each day it writes a new script on the theme, builds every scene in the chosen style, adds one of 40+ narration voices and burned-in captions, and publishes the video to your TikTok, Instagram and YouTube accounts in the audience's timezone. Pro runs three automations with up to three posts a day each.
ShortFast also has a video editor for one-off videos you want to adjust. What you give up compared with CapCut is fine control over effects and transitions; what you get is a channel that keeps posting when you are busy. Platforms reward original work either way: YouTube treats mass-produced, repetitive uploads as inauthentic content, so vary the topics and check the first videos of a series.
